I have not quit blogging, I have a new blog <a href="http://yogisden.us/">YogisDen.us</a> which has already up. I've moved all my old posts and comments over to the new blog and I'm working on figuring out the redirect thing to send people automatically to there when they get here.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">I've got my own domain and have started down the world of Wordpress. It is a different world I'll tell you than blogger. Some things are so easy and some things are very obscure.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">I've been thinking that I needed to do that ever since Google fumbled my yogis-den dot com domain name that I bought from them. They have absolutely no customer service whatsoever. They finally got it right ten months after they messed it up. Plus I don't really like Google+ and I suspect that is where Google whould like to hip chuck all the blogger people to.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Anyways, come by and visit. I'm still learning the ropes on Wordpress but please be patient with me.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Thanks</span><br />
<br />

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">This is my Dad. He used to be pretty skinny, not so much any more. Same thing with me. It might be a genetic disorder. I think this is high school graduation photograph. I just love that tie.</span><br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/9196257951" title="Dad, Alan, and Brother Bob by alnbbates, on Flickr"><img alt="Dad, Alan, and Brother Bob" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3805/9196257951_389e72e17b_z.jpg" width="522" /></a><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">This is Dad with brother Bob and me on Dad's knee. I just love that hat of mine. I wonder what ever happened to it? I'll have to hide it from Heather if I find it. She has a way of throwing away my most treasured hats. I don't know why.</span><br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/9198843910" title="PICT0523 by alnbbates, on Flickr"><img alt="PICT0523" height="427" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3748/9198843910_9d70bb89d1_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I am not sure where this is. I'm sure we were visiting relatives somewhere. How come everybody Dad is color coordinated. The little girl is my sister Ellen. Dad looks like a KGB spy here. Mom is no longer with us. I really miss her. She and Dad made a great team.</span><br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/9201989804" title="PICT0552 by alnbbates, on Flickr"><img alt="PICT0552" height="427" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2876/9201989804_f288811cf0_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Dad wasn't really a KGB agent, he was a Forest Ranger. Why a forest ranger is baby sitting cows is something I can't figure out. I can't figure Dad's hat out either. It's a cowboy hat alright. The boots are not cowboy boots though. Those are forest fire fighter boots. And the rolled up pants cuffs! I had those when I was a kid.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">As far as me and my brother were concerned nobody ranked any higher than Dad. We had the run of whatever Ranger Station we were at, and we considered ourselves deputies. One time at Payson, Arizona we came across a National Guard officer of some sort who was waiting to talk with Dad about a big fire that his outfit was going to fight. He was kind of joshing Bob and I along, we must have been about 7 and 5 years old at the time. We told him that he better wait and check with Dad on that before he did anything. He thought that was pretty funny. Yeah, well, we were serious.</span><br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/9196300059" title="PICT0374 by alnbbates, on Flickr"><img alt="PICT0374" height="427" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2853/9196300059_64bb818569_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Here is another shot of Dad the Forest Ranger and brother Bob and I. I am wondering whatever happened to my Smokey Bear. I am not sure why brother Bob is looking the other way. Probably he is looking that way because he was told to look the other way. Brother Bob can be bad about stuff like that. Me too sometimes.</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Here is a more recent photo of Dad. He is a great guy to sit and talk. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Happy Fathers Day Dad, I love you.</span>Yogi♪♪♪http://www.blogger.com/profile/00411274031147372579noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5971793597559713318.post-56382811412971797882014-06-12T05:56:00.000-05:002014-06-12T05:56:01.377-05:00Skywatch Friday - south Tulsa<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/14401466242" title="Skywatch - colorful topaz by alnbbates, on Flickr"><img alt="Skywatch - colorful topaz" height="480" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3919/14401466242_ebca3bf278_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Oklahoma sure has some beautiful skies this time of year. No wall clouds here so its okay. We in tornade alley know all about wall clouds, echo hooks, supercells, squall lines, rain shrouds, microbursts, wind shear, and the difference between a tornado warning and a tornado watch as well as all sorts of other atmospheric physics. This night we could just enjoy the rose colored sunset.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Plus most of us marvel at the stupidity of the storm chasers.</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Sorry about bring up another car, but here it is as seen at the Leake Car Auction here in Tulsa this past weekend. I thought it beautiful. Look at the sleek swooping lines and all the headlights and horns. It is best to just get out of the way when this bad boy shows up. I don't know about the value of replicas but the real things regularly go for over $10 million!! You could buy over 600 of the cars I drive ( a Kia Soul) for that, brand new!! Not some nearly 80 year old heap.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Logan and I went to the Leake Car Auction here in Tulsa to look at some cars. I'm kind of drawn to the red ones for some reason. I was also drawn more to the 1950's and earlier cars than I was to the newer ones. I guess I'll never grow out of it. If you look really hard at the corner of the chrome bumper you can see me, maybe.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">The watch on the right is my everyday watch. I love it. The watch on the left is my running watch. He has a GPS and also links to my heart rate monitor. I can go on a run and then upload all the data and have positive proof how slow I am when I'm actually running and how many walking breaks I take and all that other data. Below is the data from an actual run. You can hit the little triangle inside the green balloon and you'll get taken to another web site where all sorts of statistics are shown. </span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">A few minutes after midnight the church buses pulled up at the parking lot bringing the kids home from <a href="http://skopos.org/">Falls Creek</a> summer camp.</span><br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/14366221275" title="IMG_8724 by alnbbates, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_8724" height="359" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3902/14366221275_9fc9d2c94c_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Big hustle and bustle as the kids unloaded out of the bus and searched for the family and luggage.</span><br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/14343117826" title="IMG_8725 by alnbbates, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_8725" height="359" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2903/14343117826_080efd4bde_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">There he is! All safe and sound with a big smile on his face. He had a good time. Got to know some other kids and was very happy with his experience.</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Of course I checked his camera. It looked like he was having a really really good time.</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">And a serious time. Do you detect a note of homesickness here? No, I don't either. That is okay.</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">He has lots of other pics. If he ever gets out of bed I will see if he would like to write a guest post about his time at Falls Creek. Heather is making pancakes right now. If that doesn't get him out of bed, nothing will.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">It's the weekend and if you are looking for a romantic comedy this weekend for date night try <a href="http://blendedmovie.com/#home">Blended</a> with <a class="zem_slink" href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001191/" rel="imdb" target="_blank" title="Adam Sandler">Adam Sandler</a> and <a class="zem_slink" href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000106/" rel="imdb" target="_blank" title="Drew Barrymore">Drew Barrymore</a>. They play Jim and Lauren, single parents. The movie opens with them on the worst blind date ever. The date ends with each of them vowing to never see each other again but a series of events happens where they end up accidentally on a blended family resort in Africa. And of course the vacation starts out with Jim and his three girls and Lauren and her two boys not liking each other but then the magic of movies starts right?</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">There is the main romantic thing going and then there all sorts of eddys and swirls with other stories in the background. I am not generally a fan of romantic comedies but I am a huge Drew Barrymore fan. She is great in this movie. I don't generally like Adam Sandler but he plays an excellent clod. There are lots of things in the movie that are genuinely funny. For a twist Barrymore is the one who goes over the top instead of Sandler.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">I give this movie three stars out of four. It is worth seeing. Everybody pretty much keeps there clothes on. It is rated PG13</span><br />

<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/5199385148" title="20101122_9 by alnbbates, on Flickr"><img alt="20101122_9" height="480" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4153/5199385148_409498c0d7_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Wednesday, June 4 was <a href="http://www.runningday.org/">National Running Day</a>. I really had a hard time getting my boss to buy into the concept that I should have the day off. In fact his comment was that I could leave whenever I wanted just call before I come back. So I decided that I would work on this very important national holiday to help America solve her energy problems. Anybody else out there having problems with their employers like this?</span><br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/14164726519" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="DSCN2047 by alnbbates, on Flickr"><img alt="DSCN2047" height="408" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2928/14164726519_0f6950352e_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Notice all the bugs on my forehead from riding through clouds of them on our ride and the dude trying to photobomb the pic. Also notice that I'm sticking my chin out to cut down the double chins. </td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Anyway Heather and I celebrated <a href="http://www.runningday.org/">National Running Day</a> by going for a bike ride on the Arkansas River Trails after work and then chilling out listening to music by<a href="http://tlodell.com/"> TL Odell</a> at <a href="https://www.facebook.com/elwoodstulsa">Elwood's</a>. A nice little refreshment spot on the river.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Did you celebrate anything this week?</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Logan has been gone to camp at Falls Creek since Monday. It seems like a long time. We are missing our gentle giant of a son.</span><br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="428" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/14340031704/player/" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="640"></iframe><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Heather got a text from the Youth Director indicating that Logan is having a great time and the YD is really enjoying Logan's quick sense of humor. Of course that made us feel good. We know better but we had visions of Logan being all alone and miserable in this huge camp of over seven thousand kids including well over a hundred from the group he went with to the camp.</span><br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="428" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/14361002833/player/" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="640"></iframe><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">And the sense of humor thing. We know that the Logan we see is different from the Logan his friends see. We get glimpses of the other Logan from time to time and of course we like both sides of him. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Anyways we are looking forward to the whatever Logan steps off the bus at midnight Friday here in Tulsa. We miss the guy.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">He took his camera. I hope he is taking some photographs. Maybe I can post a few this weekend. </span>Yogi♪♪♪http://www.blogger.com/profile/00411274031147372579noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5971793597559713318.post-56211698787954864772014-06-02T22:23:00.001-05:002014-06-02T22:23:23.732-05:00Falls Creek Church Camp Rules - There is no Purple!<span style="font-size: large;">I wasn't there when the buses rolled away carrying 157 kids including our Logan to Falls Creek from the church parking lot Monday morning. He is going to <a href="http://www.fallscreekok.org/">Falls Creek</a>, a Baptist Summer Camp in the Arbuckle Mountains of south central Oklahoma.</span><br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/jC38AWp0WRg?rel=0" width="560"></iframe><br />
Anybody up for a walk? Ginger always is. Look at that tail action.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">This is a major step up for him. He has been to camp three times but they have all been special needs camps with all sorts of trained help and supports built in. Falls Creek is just a regular summer camp so he is going to have to step up a little bit. We think he is up to it.</span><br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/Y4LnoqKH_k0?rel=0" width="560"></iframe><br />
(Our little pomeranian is uncontrollable at the start of a walk.)<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">At the other camps we or Heather have been there to help him get set up with his bunk and get unpacked, bed made, and gear stashed away. This time he is riding a bus from the church parking lot and will have to get himself set up.</span><br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/6SCkGbgwMeA?rel=0" width="560"></iframe><br />
(Ginger is old hat at this walking thing. She keeps looking back at me. She likes to be the lead dog.)<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">He is not usually nervous about stuff but he is nervous about this. So that makes us nervous. Which makes him even more nervous. He is going to be fine though. He will be with a friend of his and people who know him and who will watch over him.</span><br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="640" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/14324863094/player/" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="480"></iframe><br />
(We are kind of all spread out. The family doesn't wait while I take pictures of this that and whatever.)<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I imagine that he'll have a great time. At least I hope he does. He will be back in town at midnight Friday so he'll be tired.</span><br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/v_mrpfFrMLw?rel=0" width="560"></iframe><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Meanwhile, we took the dogs on a walk tonight. They live for two things, eating and walking with lots of barking. After years of walking them, they still go crazy. We are failures at teaching them to walk or to quit barking.</span><br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/7SyUj4ieRpU?rel=0" width="560"></iframe><br />
(Home of our dogs favorite friend. Be patient, he pops his head up toward the end of the video.)<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">You can hear our three mutts coming for blocks so all the dogs are fully up and barking by the time we show up.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">It is so embarrassing. At least it used to be</span>Yogi♪♪♪http://www.blogger.com/profile/00411274031147372579noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5971793597559713318.post-20217620057927490092014-06-01T07:00:00.000-05:002014-06-01T07:00:07.661-05:00Scavenger Hunt Sunday - Fill in the Blanks Edition<br />

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">This is what it is wirelessly connected to in our back yard. And it is all solar powered. It's time for an upgrade though. The new ones can connect to your wifi network and can be embedded on one's blog. Oh boy! Father's day is coming up.</span><br />

<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="480" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/14122561540/player/" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="640"></iframe><br />
<br />
I had Friday off. Everybody at the house was snoozing away so I geared up and headed off to Turkey Mountain. The weather was glorious with the sun shining, no wind, and low temperatures.<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="640" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/14122549650/player/" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="480"></iframe><br />
<br />
I don't generally get to run in the morning and I headed off on the Yellow Trail.<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="480" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/14122484309/player/" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="640"></iframe><br />
<br />
The Arkansas River was up a little and the vistas from the trail was beautiful. And then,<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="480" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/14307296242/player/" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="640"></iframe><br />
<br />
I came across my old friend turtle. At least I thought he was my friend. He wasn't too friendly and took off.<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/B3kXrsWa0j4?rel=0" width="560"></iframe><br />
<br />
I would have thought that he could have at least slowed down for a few hundred yards to visit but I'm way too slow for him.<br />
<br />
<iframe frameborder="0" height="548" src="http://connect.garmin.com:80/activity/embed/510350299" width="465"></iframe><br />
<br />
Have you ever had to deal with an unfriendly turtle?<br />

<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="480" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/14107102018/player/" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="640"></iframe><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Logan's school's Drama Club had their play on Wednesday, Jonathan Rand's<a href="http://www.playscripts.com/play/2599"> Crazytown</a>. Crazytown is about a city where everything is just plain wrong, and backwards, and doesn't make sense. Logan was in a couple of segments including the one below where he plays a sportscaster. I listened to him and his mother practice the lines for weeks and it was great to actually see what was going on.</span><br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/bxDizHAvDHg?rel=0" width="420"></iframe><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">His mother and I are of course very proud of him. He has worked hard at his craft and is much improved in how he moves on stage, using his voice, and realizing that he can fuss and fidget while performing. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">He is switching schools to a much larger private school in the Fall and we hope that he'll be able to perform in something there.</span><br />
<br />

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Logan and the rest of the drama club did very well and the play was well received. They had been practicing for sometime once a week after school and it was great to see it pay off.</span>Yogi♪♪♪http://www.blogger.com/profile/00411274031147372579noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5971793597559713318.post-68623062825089547192014-05-29T06:07:00.000-05:002014-05-29T06:07:03.078-05:00Skywatch Friday - Tulsa Skyline<br />

<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/nbp3Ra3Yp74?rel=0" width="560"></iframe><br />
<br />
Son and I went to see "<a href="http://www.theamazingspiderman.com/site/#home">The Amazing Spider-Man 2</a>" Sunday night. We loved it. Spiderman swoops in and fights villains and saves the day for everybody. I hope that doesn't spoil it for you. Looking at the characters I get this.<br />
<br />
<b><a class="zem_slink" href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1940449/" rel="imdb" target="_blank" title="Andrew Garfield">Andrew Garfield</a> plays <a class="zem_slink" href="http://www.marvel.com/comics/Spider-Man" rel="homepage" target="_blank" title="Spider-Man">Spider Man/Peter Parker</a></b>. - I guess Garfield does okay. You this movie's Spider-Man is kind of a wise cracking clown. Peter Parker is a total wimp. He doesn't make it to his own graduation on time to see his girlfriend's speech. He breaks up with her only to follow her around creepily and he continually puts her in dangerous situations. He also lives with aunt and spends a lot of time moping around. Come on Parker, Man Up!<br />
<br />
<b><a class="zem_slink" href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1297015/" rel="imdb" target="_blank" title="Emma Stone">Emma Stone</a> plays <a class="zem_slink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gwen_Stacy" rel="wikipedia" target="_blank" title="Gwen Stacy">Gwen Stacy</a> - Spiderman's girlfriend</b>. She is really really cute with the hair and the clothes and the great bod and all that. The sooner she dumps Parker the better off she'll be in my opinion anyway. She needs a protective order on him is what I think. Or more accurately that is what she should have done.<br />
<br />
<b><a class="zem_slink" href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0004937/" rel="imdb" target="_blank" title="Jamie Foxx">Jamie Foxx</a> plays Max Dillon</b> - Max is a poor picked wimpy Electrical Engineer (unlike us Chemical Engineers who are totally manly you understand) who... Well, I'm not going to spoil it for you!<br />
<br />
<b><a class="zem_slink" href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000398/" rel="imdb" target="_blank" title="Sally Field">Sally Field</a> plays Peter Parker's Aunt May</b> - Who wouldn't love to have Sally Field for an aunt. She's great but she needs to kick that Peter Parker out the door on his ear. I mean the shiftless dude graduates and isn't doing anything besides stalking his girlfriend. She needs to have a little graduation party of her won with three gifts. Give him a hundred bucks, a good hug, and a kick in the butt and then lock the door behind him. <br />
<br />
<b>My favorite character is the villain Electro.</b> I am not going to say much cuz I don't want to spoil the movie for you, but he is one mean dude.<br />
<br />
Logan and I each gave this move three stars out of four. Better go see it quick if you want to see it.<br />
<br />
Check out the <a href="http://www.theamazingspiderman.com/site/#home">Movie's Web Site</a> for lots of stuff. Photographs, videos, games, it's all there.<br />

Nobody minded though.</span><br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="359" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/14298927603/player/" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="640"></iframe><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Heather and cousin Cheri Lou aka "Thelma and Louise". It's best to keep these two apart. No matter what I do with the camera, Cheri Lou doesn't like it. She doesn't like it close, she doesn't like it when I pull back. and she doesn't like where I point the camera. Hey Cheri Lou, why don't you take a few pics? Just kidding, Cheri Lou is sweetheart.</span><br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="359" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/14275404581/player/" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="640"></iframe><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I think these two like each other.</span><br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="359" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/14278732405/player/" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="640"></iframe><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Three of their kids and Kyle the cousin. Nothing like cousins in my book.</span><br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="640" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/14092170280/player/" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="480"></iframe><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I cooked hamburgers outside in the rain. Actually I was comfortable and dry under the overhang. I love rain and storms and the energy in the air. Way, way back I was just a fifth grade Yogi in Utah at a Church Camp high up in the Wasatch Mountains. When it rained, and it rained a lot, we all had to stay in the lodge I would go walk out in the rain just to get away and get soaking wet. The counselors would be yelling at me. "Don't you know to come in out of the rain!?" I'd be thinking "I'd rather be out here than in there with you." So that was it for me and the Episcopal Church. Sorry, I'm rambling.</span><br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="359" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/14275393851/player/" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="640"></iframe><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Heather, Logan, and Kyle. You can tell that Kyle is hungry. If he is eating my cooking you know he has to be hungry.</span><br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="359" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/14255605666/player/" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="640"></iframe><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Cheri Lou and Nana, the world's greatest MIL.</span><br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="359" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/14092069018/player/" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="640"></iframe><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Time to light the cake. There were several birthdays being celebrated but Logan was the only kid so he kind of appropriated the cake. Being the nice guy and loving father that I am, I didn't point out that I still had several days to go on my 59 days of birthday this year. That's okay, poor kid gave me his birthday money. I am thinking about going all Tea Party on him and taking it all in exchange for a voucher. </span><br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="359" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/14092143197/player/" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="640"></iframe><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Take a big breath in!</span><br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="359" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/14298893343/player/" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="640"></iframe><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">And blow!! Good lungs this kid has.</span><br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="359" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/14278240014/player/" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="640"></iframe><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">And of course we made him sing for his supper. He gave a spot on performance of "Man of LaMancha" that he performed at his recital.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">So we had a great Memorial Day.</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Memorial Day is the day we remember those who died defending our country and veterans who have passed on and just people we miss.</span><br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/14270997974" title="IMG_8816 by alnbbates, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_8816" height="359" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2933/14270997974_e648234b2d_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Flags are put out and graves decorated. The cemeteries really are colorful this time of year.</span><br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/14291604643" title="IMG_8815 by alnbbates, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_8815" height="359" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3695/14291604643_66a657d5fe_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Whole families show up with flowers and buckets. Things are cleaned up and trimmed, the flowers are arranged and rearranged. Pictures are taken and retaken. Sometimes little pinwheels are set in the ground and knick knacks are set on stones. Stuff like small University of Oklahoma football helmets or old fishing lures, stuff like that.</span><br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/14269479402" title="2014-05-25 Floral Haven by alnbbates, on Flickr"><img alt="2014-05-25 Floral Haven" height="359" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2905/14269479402_4f214c4dab_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">It seems to be pretty happy work for the most part. It is good to remember those who have gone on before us. </span><br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/14268120381" title="IMG_8812 by alnbbates, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_8812" height="359" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5513/14268120381_dc5fa0da5a_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I came across this Medal of Honor awardee's grave. That of <a href="http://www.homeofheroes.com/moh/citations_living/ii_a_childers.html">Lieutenant Ernest Childers</a>, a Native American, a member of the Creek Tribe, who despite a broken foot, took out two machine gun nests in Italy in 1943, as well as killing two snipers who were trying to kill him.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Who are you remembering this Memorial Day?</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">That is where I was standing Saturday morning. I took son up on Turkey Mountain. We took the blue trail, a short 1.5 mile loop.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">My favorite place, besides the beach which is a long way from where I live so it doesn't really count, is Turkey Mountain in Tulsa. An urban wilderness. </span><br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Note the doll on the little girl's back and the baby on the mother's back.</td></tr>

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I had lunch with a friend Friday. I stopped at Centennial Park on the way back to the office to snap some photographs of the park. On my way back to my car I passed a set of bronze sculptures installed on a traffic island. I found it totally charming. The artist is <a href="http://goodenstudios.com/index.html">John Gooden</a> of Kingfisher, Oklahoma. It turns out that the traffic island is a park called Medicine Wheel Park.</span><br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/14068699788" title="2014-05-23 Sculpture 03 by alnbbates, on Flickr"><img alt="2014-05-23 Sculpture 03" height="356" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3799/14068699788_69b0d6a25c_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">The installation is called "Games on the Way" and it shows a mother carrying a baby walking on a path accompanied by a little girl carrying her own baby and a boy playing "Shoot the Hoop." Everybody is smiling and they seem in total harmony with each other.</span><br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/14068727490" title="2014-05-23 Sculpture 01 by alnbbates, on Flickr"><img alt="2014-05-23 Sculpture 01" height="351" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2911/14068727490_cf69ee70ac_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">The sculptures are sponsored by the <a href="http://www.ihcrc.org/">Indian Health Care Center</a> of Tulsa and it is meant to outline their approach to care as nurture: "An embracing approach to care to strengthen physical, emotional, mental and spiritual wellness within a family."</span><br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">All photos are HDR processed. Without it the sculptures are just big dark colored blobs. With it you can see the details.</td></tr>

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">And who can argue with that?</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">I love coming on unexpected finds like this.</span><br />

<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/14063950950" title="2014-05-23 Graffiti by alnbbates, on Flickr"><img alt="2014-05-23 Graffiti" height="356" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5505/14063950950_72d63977aa_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I was in east Tulsa yesterday for Logan's school awards assembly (more on that later, he scooped up nine awards!) and I stopped by Mad Mike's Liquor store on 11th street to see what was new in their graffiti. This cool guy with the shades was my favorite. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Mad Mike's has created a "Permission Zone" where graffiti art is encouraged. It changes quite a bit and is quite the place. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Do you have any permission zones where you live?</span>Yogi♪♪♪http://www.blogger.com/profile/00411274031147372579noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5971793597559713318.post-64336491252589024562014-05-22T06:29:00.000-05:002014-05-22T06:30:26.889-05:00Skywatch Friday - Arkansas River, Early Morning<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/28381904@N06/14057280140" title="Sunrise Arkansas River - Topaz Edit by alnbbates, on Flickr"><img alt="Sunrise Arkansas River - Topaz Edit" height="480" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5490/14057280140_8e19da11b0_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
